By virtue of the authority given in the Defence Act 1903-1939 and by the Regulations made thereunder, I do hereby appoint you the said ARMY No. NP4949, TEMPORARY SERGEANT FRANK MILES SMYTH, AUSTRALIAN INSTRUCTIONAL CORPS, to be a Warrant Officer (Class II) in the Australian PERMANENT Military Forces from 7th JUNE, 1940.
You are, therefore, carefully and diligently to discharge your duty as such by doing and performing all things thereunto belonging as required by the Laws and Orders relating to the Australian Military Forces; and you are to observe and follow such orders and directions as you shall receive from your Commanding, or any other your Superior Officer, according to the Laws and Orders relating to those Forces.
