Most
of the men in the Battalion returned to
Australia on board Esperance Bay, which
arrived in Darwin on 30/9/1945.
While
the ship was in Darwin, Pte. Vincent BYLOS became seriously ill, and was evacuated to 107 Australian
General Hospital (107 AGH). Despite treatment, he died on 3/10/1945, and
was laid to rest in the Adelaide River War Cemetery. He is the only
member of the 2/30 Battalion buried in this
cemetery. (Source: Makan
