History of the 2/30th
-
The Battalion was formed in
November, 1940, at Tamworth, NSW, Australia and later trained at
Bathurst, NSW.
-
They served in Malaya and Singapore
during World War 2, and fought major battles against the Japanese at
various locations, including Gemencheh, Gemas and Ayer Hitam, and on
Singapore Island.

On 15th February 1942, following the
Allied surrender, they became Prisoners of War of the Japanese.
